Brighton (Sandown Street) Dog Beach

Brighton (or Sandown Street) Dog Beach is arguably the most popular dog beach in the Bayside area of Melbourne (although also arguably not the nicest). The area is a wedge of sand near the Brighton Yacht Club, and is fenced in from the beach walking path. During summer, parking in the area can be tricky, and expect to need to walk at least 5-10 minutes to reach this area.

Waste bags are available near the entry gate, but water fountains are available a couple of minutes walk away in both directions down the beach walking path.

Between April and October you can walk the dogs down to the Dendy St beach boxes, where they can also have an off lead run. The Brighton Beach baths cafe nearby is also dog friendly with outdoor seating, and you will see a lot of dogs sitting in the cafe with their owners after a swim in the beach.
